Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

This heater had its hour meter disconnected, so I don't know actual hours, but based upon cosmetic condition when I bought it, I suspect it was relatively low use. Though being in Louisiana with high humidity anything is prone to rusting.

Here is a photo of the back side of the circuit board, pay particular attention to the traces in the upper right corner, the corrosion around the screw hole, etc.

I will try to get back to that project and post some tomorrow, I had planned to take some but got side tracked when I saw a soldering iron was needed for full disassembly.

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

After partly dissecting my old temperature control thermostat (the one with flat head only screws on the terminal strip not the new style one with the combo Phillips / flat screws). I am not impressed with its construction, the circuit board looks like something from a roll your own board...

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

Escobar, do you mean the circuit breaker that provides power to your outlet, or the safety reset button on the K8 relay on H82? On a side point I was working on my H82 today also, it had developed a fault so that when the thermostat reached set point to switch heat on or off, the heat control /...

Thanks will do as soon as it gets a bit warmer here since it is working now. p.s. I was referring to the tripped reset indicator light on my H82, the bulb on mine is broken

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

On a side topic does anyone recognize this disconnected black wire dangling in front of the air return on my H82? My heater seems to work ok, so I assume it is not too important, perhaps the disconnected hour meter, per the manual instructions. Also mine is now has a relay toggle on and off...

While we are on this topic, does anyone know the specs for the pilot light bulb, mine is broken, is it 120VAC?

Sorry can't help on that, but here is the manual for the H82 / H83 which are very similar http://www.liberatedmanuals.com/TM-5-4520-256-14.pdf (I think the main difference is the H81 is in a slightly different cabinet.

If you have a working heater out and set up it should to fairly easy to confirm if it uses intermittent or continuous ignition, I would check mine, but it is up on a warehouse rack right now, warm winter in my part of the country only 2 or 3 nights just below freezing so far this winter. Also...

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

Is that the right one for these units, I would have suspected they have continuous ignition and the -430 is an intermittent ignition version of the 668 series controller. I have not yet had reason to confirm that our heater control circuit is continuous ignition other than the fact that most...

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

If I were to guess the relay points had welded themselves together and the metal contracting when they were frozen snapped them apart.

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

Here go some short answers: The relay controller is a custom version of an off the shelf model, so you may be able to get a workable substitute, but it will take a little investigation as the off the shelf model is made in a few variations (I forget exactly what, but something like different...

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

I have been running my H82 some lately and have noticed that the main switch will not turn back to the heat position once it is turned to vent for cool down. Instead it must be turned all the way off, then back to vent, then heat. Is this normal or is it a sign my switch is acting up?

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

Here is the front of mine from the GL listing photo, it has not changed much since last year, just more dust on it at the moment (and the side cover plate for my MEP-002a power box). I need to make up some labels for the switch positions, in fact I was going to do that last night then found the...

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

I own an H82, bought from GL last January, and overall it seems to work well for my shop heating needs, but I was wondering a bit about the differences between these three models and what light you might shed on their history. I know they are all very similar, and were all build by Engineered...
