If I were you, I would pull the engine, set it on the bellhousing standing up complete with heads on, and pull the crank and send to get turned. Some numskull forgot to final torque that rod cap.
A 3/4" supply pipe would not be big enough for a 3-2 house either if you turn on every faucet and toilet and shower and appliance. But that is not going to happen. 85 amps will carry the upconverter and normal truck load.
I gave my opinion on post 114. What I plan to do: Upconverter 12V to 24V, Red Dot load only, stock alt with stock T-R doing it's usual thing. LED headlights shaving off 14 amps or so. The rest of what is being discussed it too complicated for this ol' boy.
RRacing is correct, the compressor does not cycle on this setup because there is no thermostat in the cab. If the compressor cuts out, it is doing so because of low pressure protection switch.
Jeep, yes, Wehring came to my rescue and fetched the trailer for me. He is badged and went through a...
The DC up is the way to go. Have it dedicated to the A/C system (match amps). Leave the T-R in place. If the 12-24 up converter blows, well you ride hot. If you go through the pain of installing a 24 volt alt and a 24-12 down converter, if it blows, you are inop on the side of the road.
Jeep: Yes, while I was getting badged in, the T-R commenced to smoking and security called base FD and they rolled every piece of apparatus on the site. It was BEYOND EMBARRASSING. By the time they rolled up, I had the batteries disconnected and the T-R was just simmering. I was asked to...
Likely the pressure switches and harnesses are also sized for the 24 volt ampacity. I think you are going to run into more cost converting the military kit into 12 volt than if you had bought a Red Dot civi universal application backwall A/C kit.
Personally I am going to side with reb87...
How about drill through the roof and run the hoses down the inside of the cab in the fiberglass insulation cavity? Can't be more than, what, a day's extra work? LOL
Lookin' good so far. Thanks for the write up. Couple questions. Do you like the look of the condenser up on top? Does it look out of place, or does it seem to be OK? Next, do you think the evap could go against the back wall of the cab? I think it would be less obtrusive there.
Artisan, I have since been brought up to speed on the A/C install by reb87. The kit as supplied by Red Dot does not overload the puny transformer-rectifier 24v supply on the 14-20 ton vehicles. RD would have done quite a disservice to our servicepeople in the sandbox if this kit automatically...
