Thanks for posting. The P3 is the military version of the lockeed Electra. A company where I live use to depot maintenance on them. Very sturdy aircraft indeed
The front cockpit section of this aircraft resides at Robins AFB Ga. it used as engineering mock up for repairs done to the C 5 . Robins AFB is responsible for depot maintenance of the C5 fleet.
That pilot depicted in the movie is Chuck Yeager. One of the best if not the best pilot who ever lived. And what was shown in the movie happened for real.

My uncle was a b36 pilot. Those pictures are of early models indeed. The later versions had 4 additional jet engines.
He he would always say "there is nothing like 6 turning and 4 burning". When flying a 36.
