Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

Yup!! What ^ he said. The state of Colorado has been acting like a mini version of the federal gov't. by making things up as they go when they find something they don't like. They don't get the law changed; they just change their mind on how this issue has been dealt with since vehicles began...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

Just another thought on this, and don't quote me on all the steps involved from suing the state, just shooting from the hip here....."IF" you found a willing attorney to take the case (I know money talks...free stuff doesn't pay the bills after law school), you don't want a lousy lawyer to take...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

I'm a native, grew up loving this state and all that was in it, went away to the Marines and far off foreign shores, returned home and made it my home by choice. "IF" I didn't have so many ties here still I'd pack my trash, pull my money and un-ass the area; my concerns are that wherever I could...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

Just curious if you have read back in the archives for the last 2 or 3 years as to this issue? This latest thread you are on is in reference to a 2019 attempt to fix a problem the legislature created a couple of years earlier. It cut out Ranchers Supply in Lamar from selling their "surplus"...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

None I have heard of. Any idea of how much it would cost, know a really good lawyer who does such things?

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

Colo. DOR won't give you a VIN, because they are hard left against registering any previously owned by the military vehicles. @ 3 years ago (before the last governor election) it wasn't an issue, they would register military vehicles just using the vehicle ID number. They have since started...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

The legislature from what I was told was working under dire circumstances this session due to the "Chi-Com Flu" restrictions, they were only going to deal with "emergency situations and health related stuff" to take care of us all with social distance, remote working, etc. The very first thing...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

My nephew and family have finally had enough of Colorado's leftist leaning ideals and sold everything that was tied down and bought some lake front property in Montana. He told me it was a breeze to register "anything" in Montana, the highest priced plates were $200 for more expensive vehicles...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

I had no problem getting my 1960 M101 trailer re-registered this year; it only has a 4 digit VIN, but it was a renewal, not a first time register deal. I do know a guy that last year went to re-register his previously licensed M101 trailer and they (DOR) made him get a state issued "homemade...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

I'd say the short answer is "not good" and "not soon".....lots of history up thru the thread on what Colo. DOR has been doing about no longer registering previously titled and licensed military vehicles. The last thing that may have helped us got slammed when the "Chi-com flu" hit and the...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

I've been on pins and needles since this whole mess started, my truck and trailer registration renewals came last month and I wondered what shenanigans they would try at DOR. No problem; sailed right thru without a hitch, I have a 5 digit VIN on a 1967 truck and a 4 digit VIN on a 1960 trailer.

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

From the state legislature web site following the 3rd reading of the bill: Act subject to petition - effective date. This act takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on the day following the expiration of the ninety-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 5, 2020, if adjournment...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

I'm a retired Trooper, still instruct at the academy and deal with lots of cops all the time and the guys think this is all "Bravo Sierra" and don't give a darn about stopping MV's and looking for registration anyway. Many of them are owners themselves, Vet's or at least fans and say drive...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

Unless I understood it wrong; the last I heard on Colorado was that the bill had gone thru a couple of meetings, had some wording changed and that it was just kind of sitting on the shelf and that it would be automatically be passed without objection and the end of the current legislative...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

Good morning everyone......here's my two or three cents worth again. Last year the Colorado legislature passed a new law that would allow "surplus military vehicles" to titled as off road use only as a result of something they did previously that screwed up a guy in the SE corned of the state...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

Hey everyone, just checking in again to see if anyone has any "new" news for Colorado? The upcoming session for the legislature should be getting ready to start up right after the new year and I'm planning on writing and also calling all of my local politico's plus the original sponsors of the...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

I still have questions in my mind about what if your vehicle isn't necessarily recognized as just a military vehicle? My first truck is an M715, there are more on the road in civilain attire than military drab, what about various Blazers, Dodge garden variety vehicles that came from uncle Sam...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

In the for what it's worth category I've been anxiously watching this thread to see where it ends up at. There are so many other types of vehicles that this could be twisted into effecting. I spent 30 years as a Colorado Sate Trooper here enforcing our MV laws, DOR regulations and the like. If...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

I don't know right off who the new boss is at DOR, they all changed when the Dems took control of the whole state after the last election. It is DOR's interpretation and implementation of the law that is the issue. They have sent guidance to all the county clerks in the state as to the current...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

I'm going to get a list of all the legislators in my area and after much editing and removing all the bad words, start making phone calls to their offices and send letters asking "what the heck"? I'm also thinking about contacting groups that may have a vested interest in this issue like the...
