So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I have them listed in the classifieds with dimensions. They were intended to mount above a radiator thats a bit lower than the one on a 5ton. Several commercial diesel trucks use this style. Look at the pics and let me know. will@pawnking.com Will

I have a few big intercoolers. Matt above was going to work on a way to install them. Will

It's not the idle screw you are adjusting. It's the fuel screw under the hex cap on top of the ip

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

After turning up the power a bit I changed both fuel filters I did seem to make a difference with the new filters. The old filters looked ok when I took them out. As much as I would love to put big injector and a larger turbo on a 5-ton I think it would significantly decrease longevity.

There is a 10mm bleeder on the backside front top of the pump. You are probably air bound. Open that 2 turns and prime away with the hand pump till fuel comes out then try to start.

A smaller turbo will spool faster. You would do better with a pair of small turbos in a twin setup. Larger turbo will make more power but take longer to spool. More compression with a larger turbo should create higher egts. Newer trucks do run single intake systems but they are newer designs...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I dont think you will be able to flow enough air thru the stock airbox/filter setup. Maybe an 800 style airbox on the fender with one on each side coming together

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I have found in the cold if you leave the power switch on for 30 seconds or so it seems to help. I dont believe turning up the fuel will. I had one the batteries were a little weak and it would crank and crank but no go in the cold but with a slave jump it would fire right up.

2-3 turns on the fuel screw yes you would be ok I have been fine with that along with 2 clicks on each of the gov springs works well for me without going overboard.

Did you just hollow it out or remove and put a straight pipe in? Is it much louder? Will

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I was under the impression the pump was good for significantly more power. All you need is larger injectors and a bigger turbo

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I used to play with turbo cars I figured shim the wastegate too but for a diesel turning up the fuel has the same effect so playing with the wastegate wont really help.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

The governor is set stock at 2100 rpms. It is my understanding that the 8.3 motor can safely spin well into the 3k's but the drivetrain wont like it. I went one click on my gov springs it gave me another 100 or so rpms without any idle issues. Will
