Yeah, I added a USB 3 charging port inside the cooler. But I only use it when the unit is either pulling from the truck or solar. As you said, the damned thing will stop charging if even one battery gets low. I tapped it back to a single battery. Seemed like a nice place to set your phone...

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

The batteries are independent on that side of the box. They are not in series (so not 24v) and not even in parallel. The unit will in fact run off 12/24v (even solar) thru it's internal controller. I just didn't want to push a charge thru that controller w/o knowing what it might fry. I...

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

Disassembling the unit to access the batteries got old the first time I did it. ;) I added a couple SAE ports so I can charge each battery w/o having to plug the unit in and run it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XLK4CH3

OK, so the stock batteries are AGM 12v 20ah. Mine have always gone flat in a short period if the unit is not plugged in (so I know there is a draw). I've gone thru two sets of batteries to date and I'm not going to keep feeding this thing $150 worth of AGM batteries a couple times...

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

Yeah, sorta. There's a drain somewhere when it's powered off. I found out over time and eventually cost me a good battery. I never really pursued it but I should. I'll have to ponder on the best way to do a disconnect. I know that I don't want to pull the white inner bezel/trays every time...

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

Yeah, there's a drain on the batteries somewhere. Mine went dead and even killed one battery . I added a way to charge them independently (with an external charger so as not to have to fun the fan 24/7). And next I want to add a disconnect so I can isolate them from the vampiric drain.

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

Yeah, I suspect that it might not function w/o batteries but don't know for sure. I know that if any DC power is applied, it automatically begins to charge. So there might be some sort of requirement to complete the circuit. The good news is that the batteries can be had from Amazon for...

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

I know the unit will run on 120v with dead batteries but not sure about no batteries. Be damned sure you tape off the battery leads so they don't short (because it should in theory go right into charge mode and there's metal bits that hold the batteries that could arc out. Do you not have the...

Battery powers the motherboard basically. It would go in the slot top/left of you image there. You should see two tabs it sits between. Rechargeable and can get replacement on Amazon for cheap. I don't recognize that panel...

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

Here's the pinout I'm not sure exactly how a 24v NATO connect would be hooked up but the unit supposedly can run on 12v/24v/120v/solar *I'm no electrical engineer so excuse the crude drawing

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

I'll double check tomorrow to be sure but: The power cord connection is the same for the MRE heater. I made up my own using a set of alligator clips to connect to my truck battery, some 2 strand wire, and one of these. *it only uses two wires if I recall (I'll have to confirm the pin out)...

This is next on my list of things to do with this. I have a little 50w panel and controller that keep the batteries in my M1082 trailer topped off. Since the cooler will be in the trailer when used, I want to add another little panel to keep it topped off. I like redundancy and having another...

I tried 10# and 22# struts and the later was perfect. It should have enough to lift both lids once I connect them with a strap or something. Struts: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082SR3MPQ Rubber catches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y7XDT63 Hinges https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0721K827M...

I converted mine into a beer cooler: Replaced the latches with ss hinges across the back Installed two rubber tie downs for the front Added a set of gas struts to hold the lid up Trimmed down three of the baskets to use as supports Cut a piece of clear fridge shelf material from Home Depot and...
