Jeep Willys 6x6 Flathead Ford V8 — Does this Really Exist? - YouTube A video on a 6-wheel 3/4 Ton Jeep. This one is a home built with R/H steering & Ford Flathead V8.
Deet that's probably the same 3/4 Ton Jeep that was at the MVPA Convention in Okland in 2016. I don't know how many there are in existence, but I'm sure you could count them on one hand.
Deet I made the MVPA Convention at Oakland C.A. back in 2016. I saw one off (experimental) Jeeps that I couldn't believe existed. Also I love the picture of the USAF Jeep, and the one behind it that looks like it's set up for the 1/4 mile. Back in the 50s & 60s my Father raced in the NHRA, and a...
Thanks Maverick. I have a good friend with a pointless conversion on his 56 Studebaker Champion. Works good. I had never heard of the pointless conversion for the M38A1. It came with a new distributor cap and rotor, and the coil looks new as well. The shaft in my current distributor wiggles...
I found this Prestolite M38A1 distributor at the MVCC Spring meet last April. The seller was asking $15.00 so I purchased it for a spare. The distributor was as you see it except the cover was on. I had some free time, so I thought I'd open it up and take a look at the internals. When I removed...
Today I did an oil and filter change. Usually I use 30wt as recommended, but a friend suggested with winter weather just around the corner, give 20-50wt a try. So we'll see how it works.
Finally got the NOS fan shroud installed. It should run a little cooler on the 5mph mountain trails. And oh, as for my speedometer cable, the flag broke off the transfer case end of the speedometer cable. Further investigation led to me finding that my speedometer had seized. The speedometer was...
I thought before I spent $400 to replace the distributor, I'd give it some TLC. I replaced the points and condenser, and as you can see it was due. The point gap was 0.08, the point gap was supposed to be 0.20. Gave the mechanical advance mechanism a little silicone spray, and that freed it up...
DeetFreek, as they say it could have been worse, and I hope the road rash isn't to severe. On the upside, you now have a new windshield to look through, along with the new seal to help keep things water tight.
Took the Jeep out for a spin today in the surrounding hills. She ran OK, but after checking the distributor over It looks like it's probably due for a rebuild. Got my new choke cable in the mail today, so I'll try to get it installed tomorrow. Then I'll take a look at my speedometer cable to see...
Deet, things are looking good. I know the feeling when you have all the details taken care of, you can't wait to get it together. Coincidence, I also have an M38A1. Build date Dec. 1953. I'm getting the carburetor squared away at this time. Good Luck with yours.
That's half the battle. In this day and age you can pick up good body parts to replace the rusted stuff. My M38A1 needs a wiring harness and a carburetor rebuild. Hope to get to it in the spring.
