There must be some form of exceptions for that, because per the state of California, every pick up truck is considered a commercial vehicle. Another question for the OP, do they allow RVs to be parked on the street? If so is it a matter of vehicle size? Maybe they decided your 5-ton was too...

Thanks for starting this thread Blendmaster. After reading all about this law, this pretty much sums it up: HOW STUPID. Is it really too much to ask to be able to own a 5 ton, not use it commercially, but still be able to go to the home store of your choice and get all the material for the fence...
