So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Valve guides can go away and put a divot in the liner, but, it isn't in the ring travel and can be run safely. If this is your issue, and you aren't working the snot out of it/running it hard daily, I can be repaired with just a head repair. I did a hay squeezer once or twice that had a wallowed...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Check stuff in the overhead before you condemning it to overhaul. Valve seats liked to go away. They are also a flat tappet engine. The head of the tappet and cam lobe likes to go away causing the valve to not open. Or, you COULD have a tight valve

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Just remember the engine in yours has a thin deck block and even in stock configuration in a high cyclic Duty application, trash trucks, the blocks liked to crack.

A turbo alone will not make more power. Fuel needs to be added.

Bolt pattern is larger on the P. You will need the pump and support brackets, fuel lines and their supports/isolators, injectors, gear housing, pump drive gear, maybe the drain line for the injectors, supply line from the filters to the pump, and the return fitting....maybe. The above pic is of...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Your best bet is to leave it alone. The overflow valve is a very common item that fails. I'm sure that after you install it, you will notice a bit of a difference.

Put the new valve into the banjo, if only threads are showing.....remember to put the sealing washeres on both sides....it will be fine. Use the lift pump primer button until you hear a hiss at the pump. Foot tothe floor when cranking, it will start.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

The stock lift pump, well the newer versions of the pump that came on the engines in the 900 series trucks, is capable of upwards of 70 psi. If you still have the original, small bodied lift pump, you can upgrade it to the newer style and adjust the relief pressure to around 40 psi and the...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

The pump on a B series....on road anywho, is a P series, 7100 with RQVK governor. The on road pumps for the C were MW, which is what the 900 series trucks have, with rqv governor and, later in life, 1994 and above, P with RQVK. B series never had MW pump. They are a PITA to work with...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

IIRC, the C in the military trucks had a Bosch MW or A pump, not the P. Cummins didn't start using the P/RQVK in automotive applications 'till 1990/'91. I think it still had the RQV and RQVK governor though.
