I decided to connect my reverse lights to a switch on the dash also- that way I can use them as work lights.
Also, if I want to sneak around or be covert, the backup lights won't come on in reverse.

I had the same leak issue when I put mine on and tried Teflon tape. It doesn't hold up long against the Dot 5. The copper washer on the plug is what seals the m/c. I used some white Permatex thread sealer on both sides of the copper washer and that stopped the leak.
It's been a while since I dealt with CB radios but I remember that antennas installed in the center of the vehicles roof always performed better. Installations like yours always suffered from interference from the mirror framework. Mounting to the side of the bed like the military does might...
