3 star I have seen Rory collection Not a museum But I think he is working on it His V looks (almost his gun set up is different he has a 50 and ?? we had m-73s ) and drives like the ones we used in Vietnam for MP convoy duty with the 630th MP Co.
Those side covers almost offer as much protection as the open hatch on a V100. Something we found out in Nam is you realy didn't want to be in there when with the turret hatch closed when you were firing the m-73. And, when you were firing an out side weapon you hoped the other guys missed...
In Nam we had 1 V that rolled over backwards. It was stopped going up a grade( the Hill was called the Ant Hill, Because it went back and forth.) The V was stopped and the Hyd. brakes gave way it rolled back off the hard road and flipped over. One guy hurt the other got out OK and said...
Rory I would like to see pictures of all 17 of the V s. That would be great. What you gentlemen have done is nothing short of..........( I don't have the words for it) We were ask one time why run convoys and reply was "well, we just like doing our thing". Which is what each and...

You are correct we hopped for nothing more than a light rifle round or a hand gun round to hit our V if anything at all. We found out that this armour was not very strong and could stop very little.
But, it does look cool and it can keep you in the zone to help others, but not for very long...
B3.3t As a V driver in Nam a little armour is better than no armour. We had a RVN V hit one of our V's and it opened up the fuel tank. Big fire, one of our guys burnt bad, the others were OK. Welded a plate on the tank Repaint and it was back on the road.
Had one it a land mine...
