PS- to increase chance AC can do its thing well at only 17,000 btu..... thinking maybe to add an insulated curtain or finished wall and door to a skinny sleeper or?? behind the pilot/copilot seat cause I won't have Gunner.
was assuming that was going to end up being my primary ac when needed (likely not often since not have a car with AC for two plus decades) with some help from insulation and a cooling poncho via a liquid chiller.... but have since come across a redot roof cab AC system 17,000 btu?? for 600...
A used Truckers APU unit is an option. Mine has a 30,000btu ac system. Got it for 800 used. New is 5x that. I'll likely use it very little but it will take place of a generator as well so it gives me a two for one. Have not decided if I want to plumb the AC that comes with it to the camper...
yeah in normal configuration they.. as in a suit, would not work as you say.... that is why I was thinking poncho-ish and not "suit" Could even be a shaw/blanket-ish... kind of thing attached to the seat belt. So as you pull your belt over yourself; it literally pulls right along over ya...
sure you are not mixing up surface cooling with evaporation cooling.? Not speaking of evaporation cooling at all.....speaking of actual cooled liquid on surface of body AND insulated from heat outside (thus not evaporating)... A motorcycle skull cap bandanna is evaporation cooling.. a bomb...
was just reading where an rv-er added a soft start to his RV AC and it changed the heavy amp draw start from 40 amp to 17amp. Usually it is the start of the compressor that is huge... after that amps drop back a lot. Half as much ???
one thing to consider after insulate, insulate, insulate..... is to not be so concerned with cooling the cab space...... but the occupants. A cooled poncho via a small 24v liquid chiller or even a fish tank chiller and inverter could do it likely. Chill vest, shirt or suit.... heck even a...
supplement with Solar. hottest days is bound to have lot of possible solar. So once house batteries charged.... aim all solar to the truck batts to relieve stress on the alt.
