What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I had re-enforced my bows a little so I thought they would be fine for the winter. That and I got lazy/preoccupied/etc. Well, Winter started off really mild, but we had a few surprises. Heavy rains plus freezing weather weighed down my cover and busted all the bows! So I started "project raise...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Got those two brand new, great BIG, HEAVY 8D batteries squeezed into the battery boxes! Thank god for the engine crane! She cranks over with a quickness now. Now to get to work on the bows and tarp, and to figure out how I'm going to install a power outlet for Cell Phone and GPS charging duties...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

3 months ago I siphoned the tank to keep the furnace running during the cold snap. Unemployement has been hard and I had to make short cuts and cut backs. dropping insurance and letting the plates expire on Big Green was just one of many such cuts. While I still do not have a full time job...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I can definitely relate to the gear jamming. I choose My M813a1 for that reason. Wish I could have a few more gears to shift through! Nice to see You're still putting your truck to work. :-)

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Sure thing. Just ran out and took these. 4th pic is how it sits when the cover is on and the crane lays on its side. I think I need a cover to keep water out of it.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Oh yea.... weight. I found a 500lb crane for less, but the 16x21's I had picked up earlier were 500 ea. and I didnt want to max out my crane just lifting my spare. So I opted for the 2000lb crane shipped to the door for less than $500. I had the 12x18x 3/4" plate laying around. That helps spread...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

WOW. Makes my 16.00's look tiny! Those should float nicely on soft ground and sand, even under a 22000lb truck. What are you using her for?
