What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Road base is probably too heavy to set up for a pull off. Used to work great at the dump though.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I finally turned my heater off. Hopefully the in cab temp drops 20° now but not holding my breath.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I shaved my tires in search of a smoother ride. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?p=1732022

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

It is all about weight and traction, not power. Being able to spin the tires has no advantage.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I used a 4" latch because it had a little more throw than a shorter latch. It is a tight fit in there though. I lined it up on the back to mark the holes and used lock nuts so it wouldn't come loose. All the metal in that area is pretty thin so the drilling is fairly easy. I am very happy with...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

This is my cheapy door lock. It is a 4" gate latch that will accept a padlock if so desired. The hidden installation is key to the system. I just did the drivers door and combat lock the passenger door. I have a soft top but every little bit helps. I drilled a 2" hole and mounted the latch...

What did you end up cutting it with?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I am pretty sure I have seen metal cutting Sawzall blades that are long enough to cut that at any of the big box stores. Looks good.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Somebody had pics of a 5 ton dumper (can't remember the number) painted like that. It was a good looking truck. I was tempted to go that route but didn't want to paint the whole undercarriage. The pics may even be in this thread somewhere.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Getting my paint job closer to finished. Behr and camo black.

Still working on my paint too. Behr Marquee with a roller and flat black Rustoleum camo spray paint.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Yup, a blank. It doesn't appear to have been fired either. Usually the end is open. I could be wrong though.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I started my paint job. The Behr paint is good stuff. Tapatalk isn't cooperating right now to post pictures but I will get some up.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I mounted a cheap Harbor Freight hoist on mine. Nothing heavy duty but enough to load spares/ tool boxes/ empty fuel tanks. They sell for $150 new but found mine used in new condition on CL for $50. I couldn't pass it up. Mounting was simple since the angle iron braces weren't much thicker than...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I climbed under mine and disconnected the auto-6x6 low range pusher. Many recommend removing the washer but I loosened the Allen screw on the arm and turned it so it wouldn't connect. That seems much easier then getting the washer out, and simpler to reverse if need be.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I am sure that it breathes better with the cap facing forward. I would have to test it facing backwards just to keep bugs and stuff from flying right into it. The screen seems a bit big to let stuff fly right in.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

NAPA sells a replacement heater fan. Be warned though, they ordered mine and charged me shipping to their store. If I had known that I would have had it sent to my house. PN 655-1320 and cost me $55 w/ shipping. $37 before shipping and tax. You just have to hook up a ground wire, besides that...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I replaced my blower motor. I wasn't sure if it worked when I bought the truck or not until I replaced it. It works great now so it was burnt up when I got the truck.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

That truck looks great. Now you have me second guessing my choice of colors for when I paint mine.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Sounds simple but if you could just come install one in my truck then I will fully understand. Very good mod sir.
