Ok, latest updates on the build: panel installed and wired, battery box in, batteries installed and wired. She runs!! Just finished painting the bed today and probably spray the bedliner this week. All tires are finally mounted ( beast of a job with those big 325/85R16's).
Ok, another update. Got the alternator back from the rebuilder and it's installed along with new belts and my Flex fan. And I located a set of correct ignition wires. Yup they were pricey but available stock seems to have dried up and it's not getting better for these old trucks that were never...
Ok, more progress today but it's on something different..........the steering wheel. Mine is in terrible shape but I can't find one. So I ground out the cracks in a "V" shape, filled them with JB Weld, and I'll sand them to shape ( most likely will need 2 coats). When done I'll repaint the wheel.
Ok, another update. Got the starter back from the rebuilder and will install it soon. Also overhauled the carburetor, and installed the spider harness on the back of the gauge panel. I'm getting the alternator back this week from the rebuilder and should have my new seat cushions from Beachwood...
Ok, some more updates on the build.............going to install 18" Flex fan to help cooling as I haven't found a fan shroud. Painted my bridge plate, also blasted and painted my brush guard and battery box. Finished the install of the Selectro hubs, was missing a few small screws that I...

Ok, as of November I've been able to get the Beast in my shop to start the Resto. I'm keeping it close to original with a few upgrades, kinda like a Depot ovh.
Ok, some minor updates. I made up a set of tailgate chains, unwound the winch cable, cleaned, lubed, and rewound the proper direction and installed the 4' leader chain and serviced the winch boxes. Acquired a set of 5 spare wheels and 1 brake drum, got a battery box and outside mirrors. Also...
I believe the winch is the same, short bumpers are still available. I have not seen the center bumper/ winch mount. You may be better off finding a parts truck but they're hard to find ( winch trucks)
Ok, fixed a few things last couple of days:
Last time I drove it ( sunday) noticed throttle was NOT opening up very much, was completely misadjusted. I rebent the link and adjusted it to get full throttle
I also noticed the shifter flopping around like something was missing. I unscrewed the top...
Last week I picked up a 1968 M715 that I've been in contact with the owner for quite some time. Finally decided to pull the trigger and I'm glad I did ! Great shape, runs sweet, and literally rust-free! Needs some love and lots of little things, and I'm finding parts are quite hard to find. BUT...
