Not sure if they had any map/orienteering this day as it is a huge bunch of kids for about 5-6 hours, but his unit did have a weekend course for using good old fashion compass for navigation they would put on right after school starts in the fall. They do an overnight in the foothills in the...
This week, I cleaned up and serviced a couple of spare MBU's but the real fun happened today. Although my son has since graduated (2022), I still drag my MKT out and cook lunch for his former JROTC unit (CA-901) for their annual Fun Olympics. This event draws 8-12 local high school ROTC units...
Yep, everyone thinks it's cool (except for those that worked on one LOL). Great idea on additional spam flavors. Breakfast was only supposed to be on one day, but was requested for all so we will be stepping up our game next year.
Just got home and unpacked from Camp Plymouth....wow what a great time. Brought the MKT and had it set up all week. Cooked breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, spam and hash browns) Thursday through Saturday to raise money for the club. I was too busy to take photos, but over the course of those...
Great idea for the next one Mike (They have an overnight camping trip in the late spring), I didn't pick out the menu this time. I will get to pick the menu for the camping trip and will include that for dinner.
Well, it sure has been a while since anyone posted on this thread. I will get it rolling. Friday, I brought my MKT out and set up for the local JR ROTC unit at Casa Roble High School. Cooked burgers, dogs, chili and beans. While all of that was cooking, fired up one of the ovens and baked two...
Well the warm air has made me want to drag her out and open her up. I have a bunch of new goodies to add (thanks Mike!). I plan on dragging the MKT up to Plymouth on the 29th for the weekend and try and trade/sell some of the extra goodies I have acquired over the last year building my MKT. I...
Over the weekend, I set up the MKT at Kennedy Meadows to feed 30 of my buddies from college. We have been spending a weekend up here now for 24 years. Covid kept our numbers down as usually we have around 50 of us. Dinner Friday was tri tip, baked potato's, pasta salad and corn on the cob...
Thursday I took the MKT to a friends house for a planning meeting for an annual trip we all take (there are normally 40-50 of us on the trip) Due to some of the restrictions we scaled back the event and came up with plans for meal prep and serving. None of them had seen the MKT and were blown...
I found a 16 x 16 foot tarp that covers the trailer perfectly until I get my travel covers back from the repair shop (getting the rubber strips reattached and the canvas TM pocket replaced).
Some great information Mike, thank you. It was a last minute decision, and of course once I got started, I had kids running back and forth getting things I needed LOL. it was pretty comical. I had not yet put all of the utensils in it yet, no containers, and no spices (salt/pepper) or oil/lard...
So after a few weeks of tracking down parts, converting to LED lighting, and converting the trailer to electric over hydraulic braking (for now, but keeping the parts for reconversion back to air over later if I can secure a 5 ton!) I finally decided to cook breakfast for dinner. Using Mikes...
Today I changed out my rear tail lights and converted them over from 24 volt to 10-30 v LED. Knowing what a pain California is I may also add side mark lights in place of the reflectors (or leave those and add marker lights for serious side overkill). I will try and get some pictures up later...
I received an upgrade kit I ordered and installed it today...all V3's now : ) As far as the MKT, I believe it was upgraded in 2014 as I found some paperwork that said work was done. Super happy as it had most everything in it and some of the items were not even opened. Mike, is it common for...
Thanks Mike for all the advice and information. I only ran them a few minutes to see them all working in unison. Figured out how to do the video via YouTube so I will do a walk around once I get done. Also, thumb drive went out today.
Well today I hooked up all 6 MBU's in the MKT and fired them all up.....kinda like Christmas morning when I was a kid. All 6 fired up and ran well although two of them have noisy compressors and may need new ones. Getting closer to having this thing ready. Tried to upload a video , but so far...
I now have one in California, all 3 of the other MKts were bought by the same buyer and shipped to Illinois according to the yard guy that helped me load mine up
