I've used Premium Plus, Ultra, and Marquee and end up going with Premium Plus more often than not. The higher you go in the branding/"quality" the more glossy they become. I've had lengthy discussions with my local Behr rep and even the flattest Marquee is still an eggshell (in gloss) in...
Finished up this M1078 today for another customer. She was a clean 2010 BAE rebuild and now gone through once more to return her to the classic 3 color woodland.
I've not had to sand Behr before but I'd imagine it would as it's a latex base. That being said, there is some flexibility to the paint as it's meant for housing panels that will expand and move with temp, wind, etc so it should hold up to HMMWV hoods. I painted my previous M1123 with 383 green...
I've painted probably two dozen trucks and countless M1101/M1102 trailers with Behr Marquee Exterior Flat. My oldest truck is going on 5 years now and looks new still. Touchups are fine and seem to blend well unlike rattle can touch ups. I plan to paint a deuce this week if I get the time and...
Graco Magnum X5 Airless Paint Sprayer is what I'm using right now but wish I stepped it up to the X7 as it's easier to work with 5 gallon buckets. Full strength, medium-low pressure (fine tuned over many paint jobs and adjusted per heat & humidity). I must say that due to surface area required...
Finished the paint and body job on this one today. Behr "686 Tan". It cured to the touch in 2 hours (hot and fair humidity) but not enough to stand on. I'll leave it for 2 weeks before I do anything else to it but 30 days is accurate for a full cure.
Ditto. I let mine sit for a week without touching it if I can. Off Behr's website it says:
"...allow 12-16 hours of dry time between coats. Cooler temperatures or higher humidity may prolong drying time. After 4 weeks, cured paint film may be cleaned with a mild, non-abrasive liquid detergent. "
The magical trio:
Behr Ultra 383 Green
Gillespie 383 Brown
Rustoleum Flat Camo Black
The black was drying when photos were taken, by now it's seamlessly black and smooth. I've painted many truck with these trio and they always look sharp.
Did the M871 in tan as it was originally tan. The M915A1 went green as it was originally green. No they wont be paired together or else it would all be green. Now to give it a day before going back for the black markings.
P.S. This is why I've not been quick to update the "Tale of Two...
