I've been telling people to throw the govt. alternators in the dumpster since I went to the dark side. I have run this set-up on both my 5 tons and my Humvee with no problems to report. Unless you have to have a military alt. for museum or show purposes, I would ditch the stock wire smoker...

Thanks 74m for the info. I fabbed a bracket for my upper mounting, it works fine and will never break but it does look like MR. Jimmy Rigged mounted my alt. ha ha

74m, even at 300 that is still a good deal. I was really surprised when he told me 130 plus tax. I was thinking at least 300, and I would have paid that, guess the money gods were with me that day.

He said it was a 100 amps and had a 6 month warranty. He also said that he seldom has any problems out of these, but if something goes wrong it usually is right away. I had other stuff done by him and never had any problems, I'm sure he would make it right if it were part failure. I'm sure it...

74m, I will find out. I never had a problem with him before, but it is a valid point. His shop is like a step back in time, still hand writes receipts.

Correct no keyway on delco. I had my local alt. generator guy build me a delco, cost 130 with pulley and its not a clone. If you cant find a pulley you should be able to drill your existing pulley to 7/8 which will fit your delco.
