Having the layer of ammo cans allows kids to handle the guns. For the littlest kids, the parents climb up and hold them high enough to reach. How tall did you make the gun mount support tubes?
I have three of the resin guns. Kids love them as well. When they ask to shoot them, I tell them they are movie props and they can’t be fired. That seems to make them happier.
I’m fortunate to have a big arsed barn to store my M35’s in. So far, knock on wood, the little monsters have only chewed up a candy bar wrapper that I missed after a parade.
I much appreciate any photos you can take. I’m by far not an expert on these trucks. I also let my inner 19 year old have...
Nice! I bet the kids loved the truck! Looks like I need to get busy on my truck. No parades until July but it’s never good to wait till the last minute.
You did an awesome job!
When you set up your VIC 1, please get some pictures. It’s high time I got mine working.
If I may be so bold, you are recreating a gun truck originally built by 18 and 19 year olds with what ever materials they could find. They took trucks out of service, slapped some made up armor on it, stole, borrowed, black marketed automatic weapons by whatever means were necessary to arm their...
Here’s the pics of my back bulkhead. Each sheet of steel is 3ft wide by 4 ft tall. They are backed up with 1/2 inch (IIRC) thick plywood. All around the top of the gun box is 2x12” boards. Those serve two functions. 1st, safety. If you are riding in the back and loose your balance, it’s better...
I need to send you pictures of my access hatch. It’s very simple and invisible. Overall it looks great! A couple things you may want to look into. Where will you mount your antenna? If it will be in the same corner as the radio, no problem. If you place it on the opposite side, look into...
Looks good. I didn’t weld my supports (don’t know how to weld yet) on either end. I drilled a hole and bolted both ends of the support rods. My aft mount isn’t satisfactory. I’ve been contemplating different options. I’ll get it fixed this year. As best as I can figure out, with those mounting...
Looking good! When I made my first mounts for the equaliberator to fit on, they looked just like the ones you made. I had to add bracing to keep them from flailing around. Looking forward to your progress!

Sounds like a good plan. One thing that I did was cover the floor with Ammo cans. I got an outstanding deal on .50 cans from the local surplus store (no longer in business 😭). They were all “seconds” and they let me root through the stacks. 144 cans cover the whole floor. I’ve had them pretty...
Finally got out to the barn. My backpack radio is a PRC 10. Looks like it may have been made in the ‘50’s. The truck mounted radio is a RT 524. The antenna mount, which is important for accuracy, is the MX-2799. The first section of antenna is AT-1096. The second section is fairly common...
