    15 minute rule - flustrating

Actually what I do in that situation is start watching a hour before close time and usually won't bid until their is about 30 minutes left. I may get outbid and move over to another lot before close time but after set close time I usually just let my max bid ride and check back later to seen how...

    15 minute rule - flustrating

Just set your max bid and walk away from the computer and check back the next day to see if you've won. With a proxy bid, there's no reason at all to sit there way past close time pecking away, one bid at a time.

    15 minute rule - flustrating

Personally, I'd rather the 15 min rule not be there but there's nothing ethically wrong with it. Long before the internet there were live auctions. I've never been to one of them where they stop selling on a item at a set time. They stop selling when the bidding stops. That's basically what the...

    15 minute rule - flustrating

I don't snipe. Mainly because I'm on dail-up :-(. I do try and bid within the last 5 min if I can. Seems like some people will just keep bidding to just see how high your proxy is if you bid early, the "diddlers" as you say. I still don't understand why people bump the bid one increment time...

    15 minute rule - flustrating

Sniping has it's advatages but you still can't tell what the other bidders proxy is. Lets say an item has a starting bid of $1. I bid $100 the day the auction opens by proxy. When it gets down to a few seconds left the bid is at $50. You jump in at the last second and bid $75. Even though I...

    15 minute rule - flustrating

I've had very similar things accually happen. The bad part is if they had the ebay style rules in place I would still more than likely be sniped at the end and still be mad :x. While I don't like the 15min rule I've also been mad on ebay auctions with fixed ending times when I get sniped at...

    15 minute rule - flustrating

You must not buy from GL. If you do would you be happy to pay more than you do for stuff? I have alot more to comment on this but will keep my mouth shut to keep from getting political ;-).

    15 minute rule - flustrating

Stumps is right about snipping. The trick to beating the snipers on ebay is to enter a proxy big quite a bit more over the current bid (if the item is worth it). That puts you and the sniper on an even playing field so if his snipe is more than you max he wins and if it's not you do. The 15 min...
