I suppose I should post what mine has been doing. Since my last test here, I've been running my unit in deep freeze mode ever since. It has worked great. No problems at all. Keeps the temp at -23C . I just wish I had bought the other one at that price then !
This unit is going into my S250...
I haven't found any "Civilian" freezers that can handle the rough use of the "AcuTemp" . They are actually designed for rough use. Maybe some manufacture will design one for civilian use.
No, these are "sealed" units like any refrigerator. Your thinking about an automotive style system were the compressor seals can dry out and leak from not running.
Also I had mine running for several weeks now. So the system has had a chance to get all the little "kinks" out. I know from experience with our bus AC systems that if it has not been running for at least 10 hours it will give false readings. So before any buses AC system is serviced it must be...
Well one thing I do know. This unit was basically brand new. I have the "test" results on disc and it was barely used. Also I did the tests on 120 volt AC. Did you ? I'm sure the results would be a little different if using 12V or 24 V DC.
When my test was done the temperature was at -18C . By that time all the water bottles where frozen solid. That was at 5 hours. By six hours the temperature was at -23C .
Well after performing my experiment again, and getting the same results I decided to put a gallon of distilled water in my house refrigerator. It took 5 hours to freeze solid this gallon of water. So I went searching on the internet and found some interesting answers. As long as the freezer is...
Well I can test my "2 gallons" of water again (16 Ibs) but I'm sure the results will be the same again. I'll start tomorrow.
Since you proved the compressor is a standard R134 compressor that also confirms what I said all along that this unit is a "Real" freezer not some "Toy" .
It also "froze"...
My freezer when running seems to almost pull a vacuum in the freezer box. The lid doesn't want to come up like a vacuum is holding it down. My downstairs deep freeze does the same thing after I close the door. Those wires you have checking on the temperature could be interfering with that whole...
Sounds like your system is not running properly. Could be those wires coming out of the cooler box letting in warm air. Like I mentioned earlier, mine froze 2 gallons of water in under 6 hours.
I forgot to ask DieselAddict . Was your freezer already at operating temperature when you put the water bottles in (-23C) ? Or did you put in the water bottles and then turn it on ? That will make a huge difference.
What's your outside air temperature ? I did my test inside with a temperature of 70 F . I would be surprised if your's actually takes 9 hours to freeze solid though. Unless it is not performing properly.
My initial temperature rose to -10 C after putting in the water bottles, from a temperature...
