The cost of the bond is not its face value. For example I carry a $10k electricians bond and it costs $100 a year. Cost of the title bond is 15/1000. If it cost $5,000 like tw proposed, then you need a 7,500 bond and the cost is 112.50. That is less than the sales tax in Vermont. Sales tax...

No, I cannot elaborate. I'll retract my assertion that you committed fraud but the devil is in the details. The scheme you suggest for Maxman, close to what you did, is to bypass the bonded title system and seems really risky when a bond costs $15 per $1000 value.

So you bought plates and had your true and correct address from another state on the application, which then would be on the title, and you didn't use a Washington State address. Really. That worked for you? I really wouldn't be so forthright with that act on a public forum or suggest others...

You asked Maxman and you were given genuine answers. Your lucky the thread was even kept open once technowenie suggested fraud. Getting a title in one state that you don't live in to skirt Washington laws, at least in the past, these posts were banned. Not once have you answered my questions...

The reason they don't get an SF97 is that, at least in Indiana, with a police vin inspection, they issue title from a bill of sale. Did that 15 times and never once did they say I needed the SF97. They are raking in the tax money from sale of this truck....paid to Gl, paid to Vermont and paid...

State will keep the copy of BOS so the chances a real owner asserting against a buyer getting any traction seem remote. Hang out your shingle....as a vendor here, please.

Thank you VertigoPilot.....that is much clearer. I think this could be a common problem, especially when the owner never titled it and can't find the BOS .

This is the sellers problem. Seems like this thread has moved into circumventing state laws by going through a state that the op does not live in. NOT GOOD An interesting read about titles in Wash State is that there is a $529 minimum traffic fine for not transferring title within 30 days...

Our state uses the SF97 as a bill of sale. Note GSA does not collect sales tax and when you get the title put in your name, sales tax is due. My dump truck title cost plenty (four years after buying) but the alternative is the problem you now face. Look on your bill of sale....did state...
