I hear what you're saying about using a liquid for balancing. I've done a lot of reading and haven't seen anyone complaining about losing balancing fluid through the CTIS. There would have to be a lot of liquid for some to come out of the valve with the valve at the bottom of the wheel. When...
Just replaced two U-joints on Goliath (M1081). Was pretty easy job.
Reason for pulling the joints: I upgraded to the 3.07 diffs and started having an intermittent vibration around 55mph. FYI, I'm using a GPS speedometer for now. I put 18oz of antifreeze/water in each tire and that didn't seem...
I can now close out two major projects on my M1081! About three weeks ago, I finally installed 3.07 diffs, with an Eaton locker in the rear.
Installing the Eaton into the rear diff was simple other than running out of Lock-Tite!
Rear diff notes: In replacing the rear drive shafts, I had to jack...
Step 1 in my soon-to-be-done differential replacement is complete. I had obtained an Eaton locker earlier this year, and with the help of a Kobalt high-torque battery impact wrench and the hoist in the bed of my M1081, yanked the spider gears and dropped the locker in their place. My biggest two...
Wait - just because it's on display doesn't mean that you can talk about it!
I've worked in some areas that even though they're acknowledged, I can't say anything
But good on you for getting the opportunity and helping out! Hope you got a good deal out of the truck!
Buddy of mine told me that his Prius does not self-identify as a truck. So we used mine to get a bale of hay for his farm critters. Used the davit crane and a chain hoist to unload. Easy-peasy.
And while other drivers were skittering across the ice and snow covered roads in East Colorado (West...
Put my new personalized Colorado plates on the truck: LVAD Of course, G0L1ATH was not available, and I didn't think about B1GBABY until after the fact. Oh well.
And put together all of the parts that have been collecting, so I now have a functional rear emergency gladhand, which can be used...
Tree recovery effort
Goliath (M1081 w/SRW) and I trekked into the Eastern Range of Colorado to a coworker's mountain retreat. He downed three trees and cut them into 12' sections. Using the SRW, we skidded them a hundred feet up the hillside to the truck and loaded them using the davit crane...
I'll really be curious to see how and if flipping the mirrors works! While the Cascadia mirrors look good, I've got a M1081 and would like to keep the folding upper door capability, and make my mirrors more like the War Pig versions. Buying two drivers mirrors and flipping appropriately, mounted...
BTW, the white sail-looking thing in the bed is a cover over my davit crane. Universal bolt-in crane that is attached to a custom T-shaped post that I can move to any of the in-bed corner pockets. Poor mans LMHC. 1000lbs at 48”. Handy for loading and unloading tires and other heavy stuff.
Work over the last few weeks
Coworker and I built wooden trays to fit the under bed storage compartments. I don’t have rails or seats, so these will be used for long cargo that won’t fit in the cab but don’t want exposed in the bed. Need to put pulls on the trays and hasps for padlocks on the...
