Ohhhh!!! Ok got it. So likely the ending unit is toast. I will pull it and have a look.
Assume nothing. Test first. Its easy. Its in the TM. It takes just a few seconds to test. It will help you to no end, to have a second pair of hands to check the switch. The sending unit. Look at the wiper arm. Look at the coil. I assume, always a bad thing to do, but assume, that you hooked the sending unit back up to the wire and moved it op and down to test it. But did you ground it?
So the 802/803 have two different units. One is just for the fuel gauge, the other has two functions. The upper float is on/off for the aux fuel pump to suck from external tank, and the lower float is on/off for the "low fuel" light and shutdown function. From what I'm tracking from Guyfang's post, the 806 has a similar unit. Hope this helps
ALL gen sets function this way. No, not the old small sets. But some of them. anything made in the last 30-40 years functions just like the new set.
