adding new circuits to the fuse box - how?

I ordered and installed a new volt meter only to discover last night that it also does not work. So I believe the previous owner did some "custom" work when installing the backup camera. I now need to find his handy work and undo it.

I would like to use one of the unused sockets/breaker locations to add a new power feed for interior stuff like lights, back up camera, USB outlets.

Are those spade connectors embedded in the breaker panel special? Can anyone offer any advice on how to go about this?

With some help from google images it looks like each quick disconnect connector is retained in with a yellow plastic retainer. The box supports 5 different connector types.

I have the contacts and tabs for the dill blox panel. Dill only sells thru distributors and they have large min quantity ordering requirements for this stuff.

Why not use the 12 or 24 volt lugs on the left side of the panel?
On the bottom of those luggs there are wires that run to each relay/breaker socket. This is information if you want to use an unused socket ot add another relay or breaker for your new circuit. If you use an external fuse box or inline fuses that would not be necessary.

If your truck has the factory installed Tach and Gage hump there are "spare" wires left in for switches. I'm going to go figure out where they run to. :)

The rocker switch I purchased has a light so I also need to locate the circuit for the backlight.Current Parts List:
  • dill blox wire terminators and plastic retainers
  • some 16-18 gage marine or mil spec stranded tinned wire (size TBV)
  • crimp on ring terminals (from bus plate to breaker socket) (2 sized required TBD)
  • Resettable breaker or Blade Fuse to size
    • buy used LMTV Breaker (part # TBD)
    • buy common blade fuse
  • Additional Switch
    • buy used dash switch
    • buy new "rocker switch". Found a huge selection on amazon. (dimensions TBD)

Tools Required:
  • crimper for ring terminals
  • crimper for dill blox wire terminator or solder in place
  • crimper for spade terminals for rocker switch
  • soldering iron
  • heat gun for heat shrink
  • tone/trace to locate wires in loom
  • DMM/continuity tester

I will be running:
  • backup camera
  • USB outlet
  • interior lights

The breaker will supply all these circuits. In theory it would be good to fuse the individual loads but I have not found a place to locate an additional fuse panel yet.
