OK so Just alil about my cucv.. I ve had her since March paid $3,700 and she had just hit 37000 miles a week after leaving the lot. Ive been through 3 starters before recently finding this site... I ve had a blown up battery and one with a melted terminal, broken power steering bracket which i will tig weld tomorrow. I have also dropped the tranny and replaced the flywheel. I regret to say now that i have mistakenly misunderstood the love ppl have for the cucv.... ( should have never painted it with a spray can just to get rid of the camo.... kick my self in the ___, for that one) Any ways i have grown fond of my 4x4 ex military female since putting what lil work i have and money into her... ( sounds just like a relationship... time effort and money its what make a women happy!)

So down to business, I'm not sure if my alt is bad or not, still have some looking to do on here on how i can test it myself... wanted to ohm it out but I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing there... I also have to buy a 24v starter for which i found a site, which offers one for just under 100.00 plus shipping... now as for the alt if someone knows where i can find a rebuild kit for it well that would be nice...

As for the site... in case anyone is looking for a starter or alt ... which the alt was just under 200.00 i believe... www.rareelectrical.com

welcome to the site. im also new here. just got to keep doing searches. alot of info on Alt. on here I just brought my drivers side alt. to a local shop they rebuilt it for $80. Charge your batteries crank the truck and test them with a volt meter. mine was reading 8 volts so i rebuilt it now its reads around 12v to 14v. hope this helps. Semper Fi

Welcome to SteelSoldiers.

Make sure you visit the CUCV FAQ Article (CUCV Wiki) that is at the top of the page on the CUCV Forum. All of the CUCV Technical Manuals are listed and many other helpful bits of information. Download the manuals for reference. Also the wiring diagrams are in the appendix. The troubleshooting sections tell you how to test the alternator and just about every system on the truck.

Also checkout the FAQ Thread for CUCV's stickey. It is where we try to post helpful tips and tricks. Most of your questions have been answered there. Like where to buy parts for the alternators.

Almost every question you will have has been asked and answered many times. The advanced search will become your best friend. Please don't hesitate to ask something that you can't find.

Read the TM 9-2320-289-10 Operators Manual to find out how a stock system should work. It is simular to the Operators Manual for Civilian vehicles. It tells you where all the lighs, switches, etc are located and what they do.
