Does M35A2 Speedometer Cable send fluid?

I ask because my gauge stopped working. I went to where it connects under the vehicle and sure enough the key broke off from the cable. I connected it back for now and began taking it apart from the gauge side... With the idea I was going to replace the whole thing, I cut the end of it at the gauge . I then decided not to do it today. Am I able to drive it without fluid gushing out eventually or does the key simply then and the grease is at the other end ?

Grease should not gush out. Remove cable..slide inner out. Grease new and slide back in. Reinstall! Some cables had a grease firring under the left rear of the cab, behind the tool box.

Enjoy
