Maybe I have just purchased the wrong ladder???. while it fits everything...... be it for boarding or stowage.... as shown in manual... there is actually no pin hole in ladder to hold it in position with the pin provided when stowed. Original thought was the pin must go in front of ladder when pushed all the way in... but it does not go in far enough for that. Soooo with the mass acceleration this truck has ;) it can slide out backward while leaving a stop light. Or going up a grade. Will probably just mark it and drill a hole... but till then.... below solution works

UPDATE Figured out why it's not working as OEM. ... my bed is not installed in exact right place/way. It was removed and reinstalled by previous owner on traditional channel iron before my purchase. I've always assumed the channel was same height as OEM bed's sub chassis. Quick measurements it sure seemed so. Apparently it's not. It's remount puts bed sitting like an eighth of an inch to low for OEM ladder stowage; so it must not be exactly same. A photo of ladder stowed by another member here sent me; shows his ladder can slide in further allowing for pin to go in front of ladder so it can not slide out backward. He does say it is tight-ish close tolerance that takes a little finagling but it goes.

oh well... figured out a solution. Maybe it will help someone else.

only issue discovered so far.... is to let tailgate hang correctly when NOT using ladder.... I'll need to pull pin and push ladder in as far as it will go. It's not far enough for OEM pin use... but bed can hang proper.

so in long run.. problem solved.

Eventually this bed and ladder will go on a bedless M1082 but still it has no OEM bed subchassis ... so will modify mount some how to stow good.

My ladder just pushes in about 6" further, and the pin goes in behind it (not through it or into) so it can't come out.

EDIT: Just saw your update.
