M101A2 Lunette

I bought an M101A2 recently. The trailer still has the Lunette, which I'd like to keep, but when I start up I get a jar when the Lunette shifts in the pintle and you can feel it 'bang' in the truck. I'm concerned this could eventually damage the FJ hitch system. Should there be a bang when I start and stop?

Chances are your surge brake shock is shot or it's the normal lunette slop that making the noise. Simple way to find out is pin the surge and see if it makes the same noise with it locked out.
