M880 running problems

Hi all. My M882 ran beautifully until about a month ago. The temperature is abnormally high in the UK at the moment but not by US climate levels.
She is BAD starting and cutting out at road junctions. I am suspecting vapour lock in the carburettor and considering fitting an electric pump. lI have a lot of shows coming up and a few miles to drive so I realy need to sort her out. Has anybody had the same problem ?

I never had vapor lock problems here in hot Texas. I would start with the known issues: Holes rusted in the tank pickup tube, issues with the ignition resistor, bad ignition module.

I agree with NDT, I have never had a vapor lock issue. After checking the ignition ,I would check for a vaccume leak starting with the carb mounting bolts. ( seems like I always have to snug them up )

Remember those had a crossover port in intake manifold to prevent wetted walls and operate the choke properly those ports were known to get plugged with carbon and cause all kinds of idle problems especially when the engine was cold. also I don't know what your truck has for milage the original equipment timing chain had a plastic gear that would wear out fast. if your timing light is jumping around suspect a need for a timing chain.
