Walked by my NOS unit this morning to see the set cap went for a ride... anyone else ever experienced a random failure unattended on this part? Ill grab a photo later.

Probably was previously damaged and you could not see the hairline crack(s) and due to temperature cycling it just happened to let go now.

It happened from time to time. I replaced quite a few. Mostly damaged from being bumped into. BUT not always. The first one is a PITA, until you get it changed. Practice make easy!

Its possible the assembly was damaged in transit (or even installation), but this is on my unfielded unit... so I was surprised to see it fail! I've swapped the cables out before on these. At least GMG was sitting on inventory of new cables for the 802.

An MEP-803A cable will do in a pinch, for a MEP-802A.
