I have my first generator coming next week, MEP-003A made 11/85 with 6 hours on the counter. Can't find a update tag on it anywhere , any other clues to look for if it has been rebuilt? The hour meter looks much newer that the rest of the gauges.Anyway my real question is do you think it would be a good idea to replace the regulator board with the upgraded features just for good measure?.Or any other recommended component for that matter. If you think that's dumb just say so. Thanks.

I would test the machine and determine if the regulator is working. Its a good idea to have a spare on hand but I wouldn't change out a good one just for fun.

Don't worry too much about the hour meter. Those things will run a ton of hours before they need anything if you take care of them. Make sure it will pull a full load and if it will then just enjoy using it.
