I recently acquired a 932A1 from Csm Davis and I will be adding a deuce drop side cargo bed 2013-05-29 M932A1 001.jpg2013-05-29 M932A1 005.jpg2013-05-29 M932A1 006.jpg2013-05-29 M932A1 002.jpg2013-05-29 M932A1 003.jpg2013-05-29 M932A1 004.jpgto it. I have all the fifth wheel stuff removed and I will cut a section of the drop side out and reweld it back together. I changed the transmission oil and filters yesterday along with fuel filters and I will do engine today. I checked all other fluids and they are good. The truck runs and drives great.

I'm in the middle of the same project with my 932a2. Got a 14' drop side bed from a fellow member here and cut it down. Just need to cut the bed's frame rails and do some welding.
Great project!

Did you bob yours or leave botn axles. I am leaving both axels and plan on selling it to get the 932A2 and do the same bed but bob the axels.

I am not bobbing the truck. Just a "too each there own" thing, I like the look with two rear axles. I cut the 14' bed down to about 10' 4". The bed will be approx. 2" behind the passender side tool box and 5th wheel air/electric connections and go just past the rear tires.

Well I have been busy, the bed is welded back together. The frame of the truck painted and bed pressure washed, I am going to undercoat the bottom of the bed where I welded it back together and touch up any spots that need it and paint front head board of the body then install it. I will then be able to move the truck in and out of the shed where I can get out of this brutal heat so I can paint the rest of the bed. I still need to cut the sides down but will wait to see how I like the flat bed look. I have taken lots of pics and will try to post them on Thursday.

I have the bed upside down for the last time I will undercoat at the weld , Paint all the spots that need paint. The front head board will get a good coat of paint in the that are hard to reach when it was right side up. When the paint dries I will install the bed, hopefully the afternoon or tomorrow. It is very hot down here so I really need to keep hydrated so I go in a/c for a while to cool off and drink plenty water. Here are some pics!2013-06-07 M932A1 to M925A1 001.jpg2013-06-07 M932A1 to M925A1 006.jpg2013-06-07 M932A1 to M925A1 007.jpg2013-06-07 M932A1 to M925A1 008.jpg2013-06-07 M932A1 to M925A1 009.jpg2013-06-07 M932A1 to M925A1 010.jpg2013-06-07 M932A1 to M925A1 002.jpg2013-06-07 M932A1 to M925A1 003.jpg2013-06-07 M932A1 to M925A1 004.jpg2013-06-07 M932A1 to M925A1 005.jpg

Thanks, in picture #7 you're attaching plates to the bottom of the rail, what plates are they? Did you salvage them from the fifth wheel plate assembly?

Thanks JC. am shortning the bed not narrowing it. I like the tires covered, the popo give a lot of attention to trucks that have the tires past the fender wells. Thanks

Those were plates from a 105 trailer spring set that I used to set the other half of the bed on to keep it lined up. That is the easiest way I know how to do it. It also is used to clamp the two halfs together until tacked together. Thanks

You should really like the end product. The 5 ton dropside bed installed on my 932A1 is approx. 9.5 feet long. We have been calling these vehicles "Trucktors". I prefer the 5 ton bed for the tail light pockets, and the way the front of the bed is permanemtly fixed. Adds strength. Be sure to keep posting pics and keep hydrated in that brutal heat.

jw4x4, I also like the 900 series beds but I had a deuce bed already, I like the 900 series beds for all the features you stated plus I think they look a lot better. My next project will be the same a Trucktor. I would like to find a M925A2 and do the same mod and bob it. I was going to bob the 932 but after reading so much about the 6x6 being better in the mud and on hill climbs I decided to leave it stock. I am going to try to save that deuce in one of the pics and bob it first so I will feel like I can handle the 5ton bob job.

Warren,
Got a better persective with the other pictures, really nice work, -you have the idea down, one big pickup truck w/ the dual rear axles. The 5 ton bed is the optimum part for the mod, I may have to settle for a duece bed.

Here are some pics with the bed on. After a long though process I decided to but the bed on by myself since I did not have any help. I rigged it up to the tractor and proceeded with the install, after 3 on and off of the tractor taking pics I set it down within a ince of where it needed to be. I got the pry bar out and got it in place without a hitch. I have one bolt in on each side of the bed for now. I still have a lot of work to do!2013-06-13 M932A1 to M925A1 002.jpg2013-06-13 M932A1 to M925A1 003.jpg2013-06-13 M932A1 to M925A1 004.jpg2013-06-13 M932A1 to M925A1 005.jpg2013-06-13 M932A1 to M925A1 006.jpg2013-06-13 M932A1 to M925A1 008.jpg2013-06-13 M932A1 to M925A1 009.jpg2013-06-13 M932A1 to M925A1 010.jpg2013-06-13 M932A1 to M925A1 011.jpg
