Was there a change of overall gearing when the A1s came out to accommodate the 14.00 tires?
No. Every 5 ton had 6.44s. Some exceptions are out there though. Some civilian trucks have different gears ratios such as 4.30,4.88.5.44,6:44,8:88, and 10:26. All A0,1,2s have the same axle and transmission ratios. However an A2 allison transmission has a different ratio torque converter compared to that of an NHC250.
