okay I have an air assist unit sitting on my shelf in the shop off of an A3 but I was wondering what is out there for hrda units?

I have done a search on here and Pirate 4x4 but I have come up with pretty much nothing. So I am turning to you fellas for info and pics.

Does anyone have any pics of a set up I can look at? I am a metal fabricator by trade and can make my own kit from scratch. I know I will need the steering box a hydra pump and a ram plus the needed connecting elements.

Is an air system off an A3 worthe my time?? I can scavenge a couple A3's here local that have gone to parts trucks.

Show me what you all have

Our A3's overseas were armored and the would steer decent but they had some heavy plate on them. But I have never driven one un armored. Me and pops are both big guys so steering is no issue really, but we do alot of stuff for boy and girl club and boy and girl scouts so we give rides all day long somtimes. And it can wear a fella out.

I had one truck without air-assist, and I've currently got one with air-assist; it makes a big difference at low speed, and at the end of a long day of driving. For a bolt-on that's not a true power steering, it works quite well.

If I were you and had an air assist unit sitting there, I would put it on and go. It should be plenty to reduce the fatigue on those all day outings. As far as hydraulic power steering goes, it has been done quite a few times and shown here on SS. Here is a couple of links.

I have been trying to get various companies to put together a hydraulic power steering kit for the deuce all winter long. (with mechanical link). Just seems to me that there would be a market for such a kit. There is some interest by a couple of the companies. Hopefully something will materialize.
