Strange electrical symptom on startup

Went to fire her up this morning. Turned the key to ignition on, had Gen 1 light up but not the Gen 2 light. Voltmeter read dead as if it were off. Turned the ignition off and back to on, everything worked normal, fired right up as always. Worked fine again this afternoon when I fired it up again. What is this an indication of?

Check 10 amp fuse at the bottom of the fuse box it controls both of those

Also make sure the bulb socket for the gen light is clean/tight.

The little black BOSCH relays next to your starter relay under the dash control the GEN1, GEN2 circuits. If the right one goes bad your volt meter will no longer be in the circuit.
