I purchased a M1009 through Government Liquidation aprox 1yr. ago and have been driving it since March. On three seperate occasions since then I have received a notifacation from my insurance company reguarding a supposed discrepancy with the vin#. I showed them all the paperwork I received from Govt.Liquidation along with the title. On one occasion I even had to physically show the agent the vin. tag on the truck and just recently received another letter about the same discrepency. My question is, has anybody out there had the same problem? Could it just be my insurance agent is an idiot?<img src="emoticons/icon_smilie_bitchin.gif" alt="Bitchin">

I haven't had any problem with my VIN's on my M1009 or M1008. My insurance company did question me about the year of the M1009. It is titled 1985, but the VIN and data plate indicate it's a 1984. They just asked me to verify what was right, so I gave them the year on the data plate and they are satisfied.
Did you ask them to explain the discrepancy?

The last time that I talked to them was in the summer and I showed them the truck and vin #. I guess that they type the number into a national database and for some reason could not get a response to the number. I sure hope I did`nt buy a stolen vehicle from the U.S army or could it have been a vehicle used at Area 51?

I've recently had the same problem with my son's NON military chevy truck. They're telling me the original tag on the dash isn't right. We replied that the problem is on their end. So far haven't had a response. The truck just happens to be an '87 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 diesel. The strange thing is the DMV had no problem with it. Aint insurance companies fun?!
