Must have been before my time started in the Army (1972).

They have a couple of similar trailers at Redstone that are due to go out as scrap.

My educated guess is an ammo trailer of some sort.

If David Doyle pops in maybe he can provide some insight.

The only thing that popped out at me was " Has 5th wheel style hitch for easy manuvering". I don't know about that. Anybody that's ever backed a 4 wheel farm wagon knows what I'm talking about .
