What did you do to your deuce this week?

Road tripped our ‘71 to the Weare Rally in NH350 mile round trip for us. Loved every minute of it.

    Exhaust routing.

The head pipe or down tube is connected to the muffler with a band clamp. The muffler outlet connects to the flex joint with a band clamp as well and that in turn connects to the j pipe. I am sure there is a way to use your existing head pipe to connect to some sort of custom exhaust. The turbo...

    Exhaust routing.

Yep, stock. My ‘71 is an NA as a well. It’s loud enough with the muffler which is more like a spark arrestor. Plenty noisy at the A pillar. Not a great picture as it is of my tire but you can see the routing. The system is completely different from the turbos. The head pipe, j pipe, flex joint...

I thought I was done painting! Working on some wheels. Scored one new tire, in search of another.

Well, there. 95% done, just a few bugs to work out and door seals. First run today in I don’t know how long.

Thanks. The inspiration came from the Deuce on the back cover of my much dog eared copy of David Doyle’s Standard Catalog of US MilitaryVehicles and old photos/videos of Vietnam era transportation companies. I’ve noticed lots of small unit non standard markings. The yellow is a gloss version of...

    Daryl’s Deuce Resto

Thank you! A couple more weeks. The doors need to cure so I can add their stars and the bridge weight class. Almost home.

Every free moment! My lawn is a foot high! I’ll have to find another project when this one is done. I’ve heard they multiply on their own.

More parts in the paint booth. Almost done painting. Doors and window frame next. I am very pleased with the paint masks from Delta Team Decals. Very nice. Shot them with Rustoleum 7790 flat white, reduced 15-20% with acetone and a splash of Majic hardener.

Fortunately, I have not had to deal with bedliner but I suspect it is not removed easily. I suspect there will be another truck in my future, one to use and one to display. Although I would settle for an armored vehicle!

Purely for my own enjoyment at parades and shows and the grocery store. I’ll pamper the hell out of it but I love that these trucks get worked still. That is what they were made for. I am going for the “just issued to a unit, motor pool look” This has really been an enjoyable project. Have you...
