Might be a good option: epoxy

SPI (Southern Polyurethanes, Inc.) makes all sorts of automotive paint products and they seem to specialize in quality products for the hobbyist and small shop market as their products seem to have larger recoat windows and such. Anyway, I bought some of their DTM epoxy recently and in...

    Ferret 38C5968

OK, now that the engine is running well, time to get back to the fuel system. The banjo fittings for the pickups are at the *very* bottom of the tank, so they silt up with rust and whatever else finds it's way into the fuel tank. I think this is my third or perhaps fourth time draining the tank...

Odyssey PC2250ST 6tl the bad? best seller?

I have several of these chargers in different applications, they charge each 12V separately which does assist in maintaining balance. I've got them on my 24v stuff and also on my 36v forklift. Apparently 48V is the max they are rated to so maybe don't go buying several to maintain your 120V...

    Ferret 38C5968

I gather that motor was used in some other vehicles, I'd love to find a head gasket and other parts so that when I do eventually need to do a valve job I'll have parts on-hand. I see reference to how the engine is designed to burn some oil. I suspect a fair part of that oil use would be that...

    Ferret 38C5968

So much better. About 20 miles of local and freeway traffic (cruise at 51 to go easy on it) and it's running better than any time I've owned it. It's a huge relief to have reasonably consistent and reasonable compression as I'd had visions of needing to pull the engine and find enough parts to...

    Ferret 38C5968

straighten out the cup on the pushrod and reinstall, another cylinder pushing at least 90PSI. Started and ran better than ever in the time I've owned it. Next I'll put the rocker cover on and hit the road to see if it holds up.

    Ferret 38C5968

PROBLEM FOUND. Inspect the plugs, one was oily and nasty, clearly fowled and not one that had previously had low compression. Hmm... Compression test showed the five other cylinders had increased and much more consistent compression: 90-105PSI, very reasonable for such a low-compression motor...

    Ferret 38C5968

Ha-ha, the joke's on me. it was sucking air from the selector, but that's mostly because the tank pickup was plugged up for the third or fourth time... usual Ferret things. In an effort to do something about the lack of power, low compression on a couple cylinders, and just generally not...

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

The front feet on the mounts are a pretty good match, but that's about the only thing that is. I unbolted the rails from the plate, now I'll make a new plate, new back feet, and then mount the new feet and plate to the rails so I con mount the radio. I get front mounts that look the business...

    Ops-Core AMP headset downlead help

Gentex makes the AMP headset with detachable downlead "connectorized", so fine. They also offer up a couple different downleads: U174 in mono, U174 stereo, MPU5, or one in airframe ICS. The stereo U174 is said to allow different signals to each earcup, but I've no clue how they can do that. I...

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

I ordered a pile of additional Clansman gear, it's a mixed-bag for sure. Ordered a cable tester, received a radio test-set. It's an interesting hulk of a thing. Ordered 10x as-is ANR headsets, got 1 ANR(that doesn't work) and 9 non-ANR (some work, some don't). It would be great to have the...

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

I know there is a lot of the left ear is for monitor, the right ear is for IC sort of stuff in the Clansman system so making decisions about how to implement some of that might take some head-scratching. I'm also curious about using ANR headsets since those use external power for the...

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

I wonder if they were busy looking forward to Bowman by then? It does seem like a far better radio that the 353, at least it's solid-state. Don't get me wrong, I love me some tubes and don't plan to change my 10EE over, but in a military vehicle going off-road and subject to impacts...

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

I found some info on the wiring and use of TUAAM and ARFAT, etc here: https://radionerds.com/images/4/40/UK-PRC320_Infantry_Signal_Training.pdf That's all I've got, sorry I can't be more help. Let me know if you make some progress!

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

I just bought a pile of 353 bases hoping they might be compatible and if they aren't I'm prepared to make adapter feet so that they are!

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

I just thought of it as a drop-in replacement for the 353. I do see in it's manual (linked in this thread) Chapter 1, line 8, General introduction, that it will control a bcc543 TUAAM. There are several other references to that tuner in the manual as well, so it's not a one-off. So, without more...

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

Yes, it would be interesting to play with one. I suspect emailing some of the usual vendors of such things might turn up a couple now that you have a part number and description.

Clansman gear, anybody running this stuff and is there any interoperability with the US stuff?

My 5080 arrived, powered with a bench supply as suggested (top pin is ground, bottom positive). Radio seemed to come on and respond to keyboard commands, so hooked up a headset and dummy load, and dug out a scanner, which was able to capture a little spill out of the load and verify basic xmit...

    Looking for CVRT TM's

£59.99 (about $75 now) to mail a manual! That covers a single page up to about 10lbs, so if you are willing to pay that, make sure you get everything you want in one go! Also might check our repository...

    PPG pain: price on Concept

PPG "Concept" is an old but premium line of single-stage urethane. I like it a lot for places where the basecoat-clearcoat look isn't appropriate. I called three different dealers. One did say I could get Omni for like 1/4 that cost, but then I'm spraying Omni. :-( Thing is, I've got a lot of...
