    Looking for a LMTV grill

The grill on my truck had A broken rung but the pieces were in the cab of the truck so I glued it back together and had my local bed liner shop coat the whole grille front and back. I also purchased another stock fiberglass grille and did the same thing for a spare. The bed liner looks great and...

LMTV M1078 Transmission Fluid Change To ATF Write Up

I had my truck at an Allison authorized repair center doing some troubleshooting on another issue and I asked that they flush and swap fluids if they thought it would be beneficial for longevity, they took an oil sample and told me it would be a waste of money. They recommended I leave the...

    Wedge Brakes

I watched the videos and I was surprised how simple the brake shoes are to work on. The hardest part is moving the tire and wheel combo and even thats not bad. Flipping the shoes around is easy a pair of brake spring pliers like in the video are handy and I found them at Napa for $28.

    Wedge Brakes

My front passenger side brake has always been weak on my 1998 M1078. I jacked up my truck Thursday night and put it on a Jackstand. I removed the front tire and quit for the evening. Friday morning we had a 7.0 earthquake I thought for sure the truck was gonna come off the stand but I got lucky...

Headlights, tail lights and turn signals

Check all your grounds, do you have power at the switch? Cut the circuit in half and work toward the issue. Power at the switch work toward the lights no power work toward the fuse panel.

I also installed a stereo system complete with two 6.5 inch speakers an amp and a 12 inch subwoofer. I’ve made a few other additions and I have...

    FMTV steel grilles

I took the grill off of my 1998 M1078 and I also purchased another used one that was the same style as the one I had. Both are fiber glass and they have dried out and become brittle. To solve this I took both of the grills to my local spray in bed liner shop and had them coated front and back...

    brakes locking up

Remove the blue glad handle located behind the center of the front bumper then replace it. These handles should be vented if not your brake system will build pressure as you use your brakes and eventually they stick. If they are vented but removing the handle fixes the problem I'd suspect the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I bought a set of Big Boy II folding aluminum ramps that are 10 feet long and rated at 1,250 pounds each or 2,500 as the pair. I bought them from a guy on Craigslist 3 years ago. I only used them once after I purchased them so I thought this was a great opportunity to find a new use for them...
