A little delay waiting for the rain to stop here in the PNW to grab some photos. ;)
It all seems to be working right now but the engine compartment is a mess of wires. The batteries look like a mashup out of the junkyard. The other interesting part is a pushbutton glow plug switch in the dash -...
Hi All, Its been a while as I got sidetracked by work and some civilian K5 rebuilds. I'm considering reverting my M1009 back to 24v. The current 12v setup seems to work but I don't know anything about how it was done (and more importantly if it was done correctly!) I suppose I could pretend I...
Hi All, I know there are a lot of threads about seat swaps but I actually want to retain my original front seats. Just need a foam replacement and then I'll recover. I heard or saw somewhere that the M1009 seats are actually from a 80s Camaro? If so then that foam is widely available. It makes...
Haven't posted for a while and got distracted with a civvy K5 project. Thought those of you who have talked about the starter would get a kick out of this (at my expense). I drove down to San Diego with the M1009 and all was good. Stopped off for gas on the way back and was suddenly greeted with...

Ok, had a trusted mechanic look it over (formerly kept the CUCVs at Camp Pendleton running). The most immediate list is:
- Two leaking injectors
- Leaking output shaft
- Steering gear box (the loose steering)
- Lower radiator hose (the coolant leak)
- Water pump (more coolant leak)
- Fan clutch...
Thank you for the advice. Started a new thread called "Washington M1009 (re)build thread". There's probably a way to link to it but haven't found that yet.
