Driving my M1009 this weekend and had a new issue come up.
Any time I am accelerating and let off the pedal immediately rather then gently letting off of it the engine stalls and dies. This does not happen at speed but when I am in first gear or going under about 35 mph.
If I baby the pedal...
Saw the movie Buffalo Soldiers today. It was made back in 2001. Seems like every scene had M1009s in it with various configurations.
The movie was meh...kinda feels like they were trying to make a full metal jacket type movie but for those who served in Germany in the 1980s.
IMDb - Buffalo...
Thinking about redoing a “restoration” of mine.
In 2009 I purchased a 1952 M38A1 that has never been restored. After its service in the military it was assigned to the Civil Defense Force and painted orange. It was given to the university of Nebraska forest service department in 1974, at...
Was driving to work this morning and started to hear this screaming noise.
Looked down and my speedo was going crazy. I think it even did a few laps...
I lubed the cable up about 7 months ago hoping to solve a bounce issue and it has worked fined since then until now.
My odometer still...
Last weekend I took the M1009 to work and when I shifted from reverse to drive it took a bit of force to get it to shift into drive. Well I took the M1009 out again today and when I tried to shift it from park into drive it did the same thing. Once I manage to get it into drive it shifts from...
I was driving my M38A1 this morning and was turning around in the Barton middle school parking lot. I saw you turn at the intersection in a Tan HMMWV with NATO invasion stripes...
Any of you guys, this road is not exactly a route I would expect to see a military owned HMMWV to be traveling?
The batteries in my M1009 are now completely dead...
I need to replace the military ones with a civilian equivalent that works.
Using the search function it seems the Group 31s are the ones to go with. My only problem is the battery post on them are different.
Are there two different...
I was watching some documentary on the invasion of Kuwait and it looked like Kuwait and Saudi Arabia had a large number of these vehicles.
Have any of you thought about going to one of these countries and buying rare spares like transfer cases and wheels?
I am trying to find a bracket similar to the one Barrman used on his hand throttle mod.
I tried searching for throttle cable brackets, control cable brackets, ect but all I could find were types that were unique to a specific application.
Do these things have a specific name?
I am keeping a mileage log with my M1009 and at the moment I am getting the following:
16/17 MPG Mixed Driving (City and Highway)
22 MPG (Highway only) @ 55-60 mph
I have a BANKs turbo setup I have not installed yet (waiting till fall).
For those who have the 6.2 Liter Banks Sidewinder...
Any of you guys?
About 8:30 am this morning out side of San Marcos a Deuce was heeding North IH35 and the bed was full of spare rims and tires.
I was heeding south so I could not see if it had any marking.
Whoever it was had probably 10-20 rims with spare tires.
For the past year or so I have noticed a lot of WW1 planes flying around my local area and thought it was the CAF.
Well come to find out it is some locals who bought replica kits and put them together in their garage. You can't even tell they are kits. And they disassemble for travel on a...
GSA had 4 AH1 Cobras up for auction and last I looked on Thurs. They were around 4k when I last looked.
The auction ended yesterday. They would have made an awesome display to trailer around.
Any one here get them?
Had a buddy of mine in class today mention some one rolled their deuce on its side outside Uhland Texas on one of the slick roads this morning.
He said it looked like they tried to go around a corner and slid and the truck went on its side.
There was some kind of large wrecker trying to...
