New To Me Engine, Won't Start

Again, if it was me at this point, I would pull the heads, the timing cover IP. Because at this point your going to be doing this work anyways in order to repair it. Given you obviously have not been given accurate information and history of this engine, I would pull the engine and tear it...

New To Me Engine, Won't Start

You just made my point; head gasket failure; your pulling the heads. Cracked head; your pulling the heads. Cracked piston; your pulling the heads. If you want to fix this engine; your going to end up pulling the heads so just pull them. As a diesel tech., I would of just pulled the heads...

New To Me Engine, Won't Start

Don’t waste your time on having a mechanic pressure test the cooling system. If the head gaskets are blown to the cooling passages, you would get coolant in the exhaust. Possible to have head gasket blown bore to bore. Pull the heads. If it’s a head gasket your going to have to do so any ways...

    Question Duramax in a M1028

A Cummins is almost 200-300lbs HEAVIER than a duramax. Yes, the LB7 injectors have some issues, and it requires removing the valve covers to change injectors. But the LB7 also is the least mechanical engine of the Dmax family. It also has a non-VGT turbo. The problem with fitting it in a cucv is...

    Duramax vs Cummins HMMWV Conversions

That’s only on the LB7; the first generation of the duramax

    Duramax vs Cummins HMMWV Conversions

I haven’t been on the site for a while. And in trying to refresh my memory for a swap I’m advising on, I came across this post, which the OPs question never got answered. So I figured I would answer if for them.

    Duramax vs Cummins HMMWV Conversions

From the LBZ up to the L5P, the long block and heads are basically the same. Turbos are slightly different. The LBZ had no emissions equipment on them, LMM had EGR, LML EGR/DPF/SCR. The LMM and LML had CP4.2 Injection pumps, LMM had pizeo (spellcheck) injectors.

    F800 Crawler HaulerW/8.3L CTA Cummins

Like it or not, pane is a fuel source. Over fueling is what kills Diesel engines. It shoots EGTs way up, increases cylinder pressures, and has the potential to combust uncontrollably (when injected via the air intake system). Nitrous is an oxidative. It’s chemical forced induction. You can run a...

    6.2L Turbo????

Intake manifold bolts are in the way, plus you need 1.5-2” of body lift. The turbo trucks the military had all had 1” of body lift

    6.2L Turbo????

Because the engine compartment is so tight due to everything being sucked up high for ground clearance. You can’t do a side mount due to the upper shock mounts. A center mount is doable but the location the turbo sits in is taken up by the dog house. The foot well/fire wall is where you would...

    6.2L Turbo????

You have to center mount it. This is doable with a 3” body lift and some handy work on the dog house. Oil feed line could come off of the blocked port on the oil filter mount. Return line gets tricky. And you might end up needing a scavenging oil pump on the return/drain line to prevent...

Tell me my gears are shot in my 14 bolt

Chock the front wheels, put trans in neutral, jack up the rear end so the tires are off the ground and put the rear axle on jack stands, then Climb up under the truck. Grab that drive shaft and twist it in both directions. Make a mental note of the clunking in each direction before the tire...

6.5 turbo intake on NA 6.2

That is why I said turn up the IP, have it recalibrated, marine injector, or a combination there of. I wouldn’t scrap the project. In my eyes, I love to tinker and fabricate. Just for something to stimulate my mind, I would build my own intake tract. I wouldn’t invest a bunch of money into it...

6.5 turbo intake on NA 6.2

The exhaust side of a turbo dosent care about exhaust pulses or pumping of the engine. It gives the hot exhaust gases somewhere to expand, and the rapid expansion is captured by the turbine. EGT retention is the name of the game on the exhaust side. The cold side(pressure side) is a pump. It can...

    F800 Crawler HaulerW/8.3L CTA Cummins

Run propane if you hate your rods. You also have no need for the water injection. Your stock pump should be a P-7100 pump. If it is, all the mods for the 5.9 12valve pumps will fit and can be done to your pump. If you really want to get crazy, industrial injection has a 14mm plunger complete...

    Seafoam Trans Tune

Gel your fuel, put a bottle of power service 911 in the take and put some in the fuel filter. Wait about 20 mins and report back your findings. Run the recommended diluted amount of diesel clean and report back your fuel mileage difference pre and post use. Coolant wise, I prefer Evans waterless...
