    California Registration Question for 5ton

I believe the topic has drifted a little. The issue of having a truck bed 'covered' is for people who have pick-up trucks that they do not want to maintain their issued (additional $$ registration fees) for having 'commercial' plates. Thus, they can have them transferred to regular (auto)...

    California Registration Question for 5ton

That has always been on the bucket list. I'm not sure about this year yet, as I'm still chipping away at numerous projects. Whoever said things slow down after retirement was crazy.

    California Registration Question for 5ton

No, not required. They mainly focus of the year of the vehicle (at least 25 years old). I did attach a photo of the truck with the application in case they didn't know what it really was and to show it is an authentic military truck.

    California Registration Question for 5ton

Sounds like you are the innocent victim of yet another CA DMV employee blunder. I had to first register my 5-ton with commercial plates (FYI - for those in other states - ALL trucks in CA are registered with commercial plates. Your fees are based on vehicle weight). I could not register with...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

(Forgot to add price) I got them for about $350 each 95% takeoffs

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

No, I had the 14’s on the truck beforehand. They were getting old and 2 had rotted out so it was time to change. After changing two of them, I decided that was something I never wanted to do again. The truck is a “toy” (not a working, daily hauler) so the slight decrease of climb on grades...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Fresh set of new 16’s all around! Drove 150 miles - couldn’t tell any difference in the ride - minor change on grades.

    M929A2 starter issues, need advice.

I just experienced the same situation you are dealing with (Ignition/Start Switch got stuck in the "Start" position)... Here is my journey of "the fix": So... when this happened, I initially didn't have a clue what was going on. The engine fired up and came roaring to life. My practice is to...

    M939a1 wheel removal

I'm just curious as I'll be shopping for tires soon... Why are the 14.00's a poor choice? Is it due to supply, price, or (?)? My choice would be to replace with the original size, but 16.00's would be my next pick. But if I just need a couple tires in the near future - I'd like to only...

    Our MTVR camper:

Thank you. After reading your reply I revisited the site and looked again and found out why I got confused. They (intentionally or not) bury the information a little deeper in the "Terms and Conditions" describing the specific codes that require an EUC, (i.e. "B, D, E, F, Q & C"). And then...

    Our MTVR camper:

I was wondering if I could can gain some understanding of the EUC's here. I have noticed that recent auctions have not listed the EUC as a restriction on the sale of the MTVR's. Yet, I did recall seeing it on previous listings/sales months back. Has this changed now for MTVR's now (no EUC...

    M929A2 starter issues, need advice.

I'm 'watching' this thread closely - as I just had the same issue. Haven't dug into it yet. Was wondering parts (needed) to buy ahead of time.

Buying a MK23...Am I making the right decision?

Yes, thank you, that is the what I was referring to.

Buying a MK23...Am I making the right decision?

That's correct - I have my 5-ton licensed/registered. I was specifically referring to the 7-tons and growlers that are listed as "tactical" (off-road use).

Buying a MK23...Am I making the right decision?

One major issue I'm wondering about - specific to the 7-tons and growlers being offered now at auction - is that they are listed as "tactical vehicles"; i.e. for off road only. Will this turn into another round of title challenges (like the HMMWV's) and workarounds that may bring all licensing...

What's your best 'that was dumb' moment involving your 5 ton?

To set the scene: 4th of July Parade day. I have the decorated 5-ton in it's staged position before the parade starts... Everything is looking good and working well. The bed is loaded with several revelers, including myself - enjoying my patriotic, redneck country music... I then get a...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Yep!... (What he said). Re - making your own: I'm sure you can find an OEM one on Ebay easier than making one.... but you may be a great metal worker and this would be an easy cut out. I'll take a look at mine and measure the exact gauge thickness for you - but it'll be a week till I get...
