Well I finally replaced my leaking steering box. That was less then fun, pretty fiddly to do by myself and the new box had one of the bolt holes threaded crooked.
Yeah it's no wonder these power steering pump brackets are notorious for cracking. I'm sure its from bolts backing out. Anyway after 3 trips to the hardware store at $2.59 per bolt. I'm done playing games with bolts, heck even the stud in the back of the pump was loose? It's a new pump anyways...
Had to replace a missing bolt off the back of the power steering pump for the 3rd time:-?. So I took all the fasteners off, cleaned them, and used red Loctite on all of them. Not my first choice but 3 strikes, and enough is enough.
Yeah cool article. The point of an over drive for me wasn't really so much for fuel economy, but just to be able to reliably go 70-80 MPH on the highway while pulling a trailer. Gear vendors must have revamped their instructions sense I bought mine. I had to call their tech line to find out...
Make sure to use a torque wrench to install the unit to the extension housing as per the instructions. The studs are a fine thread into cast aluminum and easily stripped out. Also..(unless they updated the instructions) they will call for a discontinued GM gear oil. The new oil you'll need is...
Your thinking of flapper grinding wheels. These are not the same at all. I've found the wire wheels are far more detrimental to the metal underneath. Mostly do to the heat they produce, especially if your working with sheet metal where warping can occur.
Yeah after discovering these the only wire wheel I have in my life is a small one on my drill press. I use it to quickly clean bolt threads, beyond that I have no use for them anymore.2cents
Dude! WIRE WHEELS EVIL STOP USING THEM! here's what I use, they're much safer, work way better, and are gentler on the part........https://www.harborfreight.com/4-12-in-polycarbide-abrasive-wheel-60571.html
Turned my fuel up 1/8 of a turn. When I installed my Banks turbo a while back, I had to back off the 1/4 turn advance by an 1/8 because it was running a little hot. But now that I've replaced the heads, gaskets, and upgraded to studs. I went ahead and put back the 1/8 turn. It's amazing how much...
Looks good! I just wanted to warn you, that with the Skyjacker front springs you may have to buy & install their "Add-A-leaf" kit to them if the truck has it's 6.2 diesel. I installed their 2.5" lift kit and after about 2 months the front sagged real bad! When I called to complain they said...
I went back and looked, The heater core I got was $25.99 + $5.00 shipping from Pepboys (Ebay auction). They originally sent the wrong one, in the right box so watch out! There are several heater cores made for our trucks, but this one actually fits. The others are much thinner and require...
