I'll certainly update once installed. I get stuck in 12" of snow routinely trying to get into the barn. It's not a compliant. Open diffs don't do snow. Should be fine with the lockers.
I have this chart saved from earlier reads. 73 at 1600 on the 2nd chart is nicer than the last chart. At 75, mine is shifting a lot between 6 and 5 with 3.07 if there's a little hill. I have them so I guess I'll install them (3.90).
So back on topic, since it was me that got us off topic: I was wondering what the forum feedback is on me staying with the 3.07 gears AND Eco hubs instead of swapping back to 3.90? I'm still putting in 2 of the Detroit lockers (meritor version) so I'll be pulling the diffs regardless, but...
I went thru it, and all the posts from #590 ... to #625, EXCEPT 613 are all part of the Allison Stall test discussion.
New thread I started is called "LMTV Allison Stall Test issues"
It was holding at 1100rpm. I came off the brake and let it sit for a second at 1100. Had to get to 1200 to start creeping. But it did start accelerating at 1200 albeit slowly. So maybe 1150 is the threshold
It barely starts moving at 1200rpm from a dead stop on the slope. I was barely on the throttle. It kept moving steadily, barely, until I got to the top and then started accel.
With the tach in there, it's easy to see your point in the last paragraph. I was driving up the hill back to the...
I'm rigging up my tach off the alt R terminal just to test it. I can use the spare/unused 568A energize wire from K11 since it's already up in the PDP. The delco instructions say 10pulses per rpm, then I got the pulley ratio too. I think that's 2.5:1
Here's the measurement. It's only a 40' section of driveway but rises at 9.75 degrees. I was surprised it was that much. No wonder I spin around when plowing snow. The backhoe does a 180 on that spot without my chains. So that comes to 17% grade.
It's a pain bc I have to stop dead on that rise...
Hey I still have that setup. Only observation is that I never see gear 7 and only feel 6 kick in on flats at 75mph. The take-off effort is a little strained on uphill starts (my drive entrance to the main road is 10% grade for 50'). So when I go back to 3.90s soon, I expect I'll simply be...
Looks ideal. I have to swap in 3.90s that I've bought from Memphis, AND service the hub seals & bearings on the front so I'll be back inside my eco hubs in a month or so. I have to get a set of these from you since I'll have them dissembled.
Yeah, it was obvious to me on the first 500yd drive slow up hill in snow that the previous low gearing was of no value in that situation. I always wondered why this truck was so slippery in loose or wet conditions. The 3.07s + ECO still seemed "low" in 1 but more controllable as the low end CAT...
Yet another ECO Hub successful field report today. Got them all painted and refilled with synthetic 75/90. Used the 4pm method on the fronts. I started by running it up a 500yd small hill in the back. 12" snow on the ground. (Unloaded)
In 1st with mode it works better I think, like @Ronmar was...
Western Colorado. So yeah. Lol. But what color? Black I guess. I have some flat rust oleum spray. I was wondering about that for sure. It won't leave the barn until they're painted.👍
