If it's just a mud bash you'll rule out a lot of MV folks. If you have something more you're likely to get a bigger crowd. I'm in no matter what but the wife would probably prefer not to get that dirty.
Swap meet spaces would help defer the cost of the park rental. If you're looking for a zero sum ending, plan on the swap meet fees and if it doesn't cover it then hit everyone up for whatever percentage they would owe so you break even.

The Alamo MVPA does the Monster Truck Show every year at the Alamo Dome. This might be a good venue for show/shine, swap meet, pulling contest, etc. It's either in January or February so would be cool enough that a long drive in a deuce wouldn't be too bad.
If you're in town the Alamo MVPA is going to be participating in the Castroville Independence Day Parade. Of course if you're coming all this way given the temps lately I imagine you'll want to drive something with AC.

San Antonio does have Fiesta (Six Flags), SeaWorld, the Alamo, etc so there would always be something for the folks not interested in the OD stuff but I'm not sure what we could do outside a Show/Swapmeet kind of thing.
