Ahab, did you catch a couple weeks ago a, special on the moon landing? Apparently 2 - 3 weeks before lift off, someone asked about a flag. No one had thought of that and placing a flag on the moon was against some International laws on sovereignty. The President was said to have told the...
Moved the NW Chapter of the Gamewardens of Vietnam M931A2 from Kent, WA to Chehalis yesterday, for tomorrow's open house, depending on snow. Of course we picked nearly the coldest day of the year, so the batteries weren't having any of this starting stuff. It has been parked at Pacific Power...
Tool box corrosion repair
Did a little clean up on the lower tool box on the 84 M923. There was some corrosion going on that needed some attention. Took the needle gun to it, cleaned it, and gave it a couple doses of POR 15. Then 3 coats of paint. Then cut some plastic matting to lay in the...
I had that problem with an Interstate Battery. No more of those one year for me. Thanks for the tip on the batteries from Cummins. I have had them do some work on the truck that exceeded my abilities. You pay for it, but they know their product and did a very good job.
Got the inner axle seal changed in the Gamewardens M931 today and changed the gear lube in the Front axle. the CTIS still worked once we got it back together. Wish it did in my M923A2.
Went to a two battery system on the Gamewardens truck yesterday. Two of the four batteries were 2007's. Need to put the right front end back together. Have the seals. It ended up the short axle stub on the right side was broken. Unknown for how long or why. this is the truck that they pull...
Finished the new boots on the M923 and a drivers side tie rod end too. Plus had to replace the rt. front turn signal can. Mine was full of water and heavily corroded. Turn signal works again. Wow!
I have the g177's and the guys at the truck shop have me running 90/80. I know that is more than it says on the TP on the side for the backs, but that is what they suggested. And they know my truck pretty much just does highway or parades.
TobyS what is the length on the sideboards for the dump? I recently picked up some troop seats that measure about 10'1" and was trying to figure out what they were for. Thank you. The deuce and rear on the M923's are about 12'2".
If you change the seals in the rims, be sure to wire brush and clean the daylights our of the area where the seal seats. I took it to the tire shop and had them do 4 wheels, two were still bleeding off, but slower. Took it back, stayed and watched and they had not done a real good job on...
Big Block, that looks like a great use for the truck and your weather was sure a lot better than ours.
It rained like heck, so we got to host WW2, 14 FA Veteran Jim Grimes. He told me that he drove a 2 1/2 ton off an LST onto Omaha beach, about a month after D-Day and he also took part in...
Was fiddling with some of the air lines on the wheels for the CTIS, doing some tightening to see if I could slow down some air leaks and managed to break off the short valve stem on one wheel. Did get it out of the body of the valve, but the piece that broke in the air hose from the CTIS valve...
my 923 with the Goodyears had about 3/8 to 1/2 inch tow out and was a rascal to keep on Interstate 5 in some areas with ruts. after we got a bit of tow in, it calmed right down and handles very well now.
Got the lights working again. I had two NOS switches sitting on the shelf. Took switch number one, a nice CARC green color. Plugged it in and nothing except the light behind the shifter was lit up. So was thinking what else have I done to this truck. Got to the Troubleshooting in the...
The switch was dated 2005 and the truck went through rebuild in 2006, so am hoping the vibration and heat were it. there is a lot of wire in there for a very small area. I had been smelling an electrical smell every once in awhile for some time and couldn't see anything going on. An uncle...
