lacquer thinner for seals

Not advisable. Those snake oil products sound really good but you don't get the whole story. These products chemically degrade rubber seals by softening and swelling them. You may find for a short time it could help stop a leak but that is only for a short time.
When a rubber seal is altered in this way they fall apart and break rather quickly due to the pressures they encounter . The other properly working seals unfortunately get the same treatment. These are products people use to clean up an issue when preparing to sell a car and dump a problem on an unsuspecting buyer.
Same thing as dumping raw egg whites into a radiator to stop a big leak or tossing a fist fulls of flour into a noisy rear end. It sounds tempting but the results a far less desirable over time. Just my two cents.
